I don't have any hopes a quick solution but would appreciate tips on how to track down the problem described below. I suspect it is a hardware problem but I don't seem to find any logs telling me what is going on at the crash moment. The symptoms are: 1. About once per week all networking services but ping stop working requiring us to ask our ISP for a reboot. 2. The Java Virtual Machine (Sun 1.4.2) we use crashes while doing a networking operation in native code. This would be a bug in the JVM but we don't have this problem on other Linux systems. Another strange thing is that the process becomes defunct in such a way that sometimes not even root using -9 option can kill it. Any help greatly appreciated. /calin
