apt-get update gives an error message

My apologies if this already made it to the list, but I have not seen
it, and I sent it over 8 hours ago.

apt-get update gives the following error message, when I try and use the
following /etc/apt/sources.list;

E: Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list  (URI)

I'm starting over due to a hard drive failure.
