Kodak DC220 USB Camera

I'm trying to install this camera using the hotplug utilities and the gphoto2 webpage. I have figured out that gtkam and gimp use the same set up libs for doing this so I've been using gtkam as the interface to get this rolling as it has the DEBUG option.

They (gphoto) have a number of errors in their pages, so I'm not sure how to configure this device anymore.

I have removed the driver, dc2xx from my /etc/modules.conf using 'modconf'.

And when I plug it in.....

Jun 10 06:25:40 bilbo kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:07.2-2, assigned address 2
Jun 10 06:25:40 bilbo kernel: usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x40a/0x100) is not claimed by any active driver.
Jun 10 06:25:43 bilbo kernel: usb.c: registered new driver dc2xx
Jun 10 06:25:43 bilbo kernel: dc2xx.c: USB Camera #0 connected, major/minor 180/80 Jun 10 06:25:43 bilbo kernel: dc2xx.c: v1.0.0:USB Camera Driver for Kodak DC-2xx series cameras

From this, it appears that the device is valid and registered on the USB bus.
gtkam is able to detect this camera....

But when I attempt to Apply these settings it fails to initialize the device (use gtkam):

I'm not clear on what the error means by the statement that I should make sure no other program is using the device. Does this mean that I do not want to install hotplug onto my system for this camera?
