Problem compiling a new kernel, possibly gcc related

Hi there, i got the kernel source for 2.4.20 from an ftp.kernel.org, but when
doing a make bzImage I get the following error:
ide-cd.h:440: error: long, short, signed or unsigned used invalidly for
`slot_tablelen'
No other errors are visible.
When I try to remake my current kernel 2.4.19 which is currently being run on
the machine, it gives me the same error, but this kernel used to compile.
Maybe some bug exists in the new gcc.
gcc -dumpversion gives version 3.3, gcc is the official gcc which came from
unstable after a freshly run apt-get dist-upgrade
Can anyone point me to a location or should i file a bugreport, if so, against
which package ?
