AutoCAD is definately the most common, especially in firms of more
than two or three people. Usually the justification is compatability.
There really needs to be a paradigm shift in the minds of end-users
as to what their needs REALLY are and what meets those needs. I find
that in architectural firms about only a very small percentage of
AutoCAD's capabilities are utilised - the basic drawing commands, mostly.
Yet the same firm wouldn't dare consider purchasing or using a
program that had only those capabilities.
I say all that to say, AutoCAD uses a kitchen sink approach to features.
Anything and everything is added sometimes before it can be properly
integrated.
