well, I have spent about almost a month on Debian I hope to learn more
about it and Linux and I don't think using a more easier installing
distribution will help me much in the learning process... previously I
used Redhat and Mandrake and I liked Redhat because of its flexibility
and since I heard lots of good things regarding Debian, I would like
to learn more about it, especially how to set it up from grounds up
and maybe hopefully when I can get some more time on my hands, do some
developing with KDevelop!

well, after booting with the Debian CD1, I can mount the first
partition (/dev/hda1 in my case) and I can see the following files
System.map-2.4.16-386
System.map-2.4.18-bf2.4
boot-bmp.b
boot-compat.b
boot-menu.b
boot.text.b
boot.0300
boot.b
chain.b
config-2.4.16-386
config-2.4.18-bf2.4
initrd.img-2.4.16-386
lost+found
map
os2_d.b
vmlinuz-2.4.16-386
vmlinuz-2.4.18-bf2.4
in the root directory, I initially noticed that the vmlinuz symlink
was pointing to vmlinuz-2.4.16-386 after the kernel panic and I
changed the link to vmlinuz-2.4.18-bf2.4 but still it doesn't work..
any suggestions?
