If I could find a low cpu/memory usage player (.mp3, > .pls) I'd happily swap, just cant seem to find (a recent) one that does > streaming. It sounds average. mp3 decompression is a tad CPU intensive, you need a beefy 486 or above for it to work. On my pentium 166, with xmms 1.2.7, I tend to use between 10% and 35% of the CPU. That is without using KDE, since I stick to fluxbox, and sticking to a local mp3 file. However, I have two recommendations for you: 1) check out hdparm, and 2) if you have a low amount of memory, hit ebay (I'm at 80M right now, and it seems to be a good cost/benefit ratio, considering it cost me $25 for the laptop memory stick [64M]). -- ...crying "Tekeli-li!
