I went to unixsucks and didn't immediately find the references to the
Mindcraft survey. If this is The Mindcraft Survey, it was done several years
ago and had some serious flaws.
Nonetheless, kernel hackers looked at the results, identified some places
the Linux kernel could be faster, and rewrote those parts of the kernel. The
2.4 series kernels were made better by the extra attention.
Of course, that also means the Mindcraft survey has no useful information
for decision-makers today.
