/dev/input/mouse0 should be device for usb mouse. /dev/psaux would be
ps2 mouse port. /dev/input/mice should combine input from all mice you
have connected to your compute, but I am not sure if you need usb
modules loaded for it to work.
If you use gpm, in XF86Config you could also use /dev/gpmdata with
gpm set to 'raw' repeat.
Check /var/log/messages for report on how your computer detected your mouse.
