I haven't used this package, so I don't precisely how it's supposed to work. I would guess, though, that you should edit /etc/inittab and change the /sbin/getty invocations to /sbin/mgetty. If there is a Debian Way, I would guess that it uses the alternatives system, and that using 'update-alternatives --config getty' would set /sbin/getty to be an indirect symlink to mgetty. If it's not that, is there a README.Debian? If neither that, then i'd say that manually editing /etc/inittab is the way to go. Again, these are my guesses. Initially I would have guessed (like you) that the process would be more automatic. Perhaps a wishlist bug? Read the docs first and see if there's something we're missing: maybe some good instructions on how to replace getty with mgetty, maybe rationale for not doing it automatically, maybe both. good times, Vineet -- http://www.doorstop.net/ -- "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds.
