RE: Help Needed with Newbie Installation Problem

Chris, I recently got Debian off the ground on an Nvidia Nforce chipset
motherboard (onboard GeForce4mx video among other things, same basic
procedure though). You'll definitely get help from their forum:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=14

Start at the following link. Download the drivers and follow the readme
file. Then you have to edit your XF86Config-4 file. You'll probably get
familiar with lsmod, dmesg and the way Debian handles hardware driver
modules. The unfortunate people just follow the instructions and it works
so they don't learn anything 8-)

A major FAQ answer is "set your BIOS to non plug-n-play OS and assign IRQ to
video" so make sure you do that first.

NVidia is providing a "unified" driver that is supposed to just work, across
the board, all hardware, all distros, all phases of the moon. But feel free
to perform your favorite hardware blessing ritual anyway ;)
