Make sure your fetchmail checking interval is rather long (or you'll
be dailing in constantly) and if you can (I can't remember if you can
or not) set the connection timeout for n+60 (where n is how many
seconds it takes to connect typically).  Make sure pppd is set up to
dail on demand.  Things will work out on thier own from there.
