Same thing here. I tried "dpkg -i *.deb" from /var/cache/apt/archives 
and it seems that the update fails because update-rc.d is missing. My 
guess is that update-rc.d has been in another package until now, and the 
package was removed before dpkg starts the configuration of sysv-rc.

Using "dpkg --force-all -i *.deb" worked for me. If you don't want to 
take that risk, I recommend setting the sysv packages to hold ('=' key 
in dselect) and waiting for an updated and fixed sysv package.
