I'm no expert on compilation, but here's my 2c from my own experiences.

The reference to 2.4.19 could be because you are still compiling the drivers 
with the old kernel headers and libs.
Do you have a symlink 'linux' pointing to the new kernel source?
/usr/src#ln -s <kernel source dir> linux

Maybe you (also) have to set a variable like KSRC=/usr/src/<kernel source 
dir>.

Check the makefile for the drivers to see what it uses.
