Hello everybody, Thanks for the help so far - unfortunately the cd is still not working :-( I included the /etc/modutilis/alias, /etc/modules and the /etc/modules.conf I think I did what you told me to do - but the cd won't run unless I do the insmod on the modules manually ... The cd is a CRD-8482B, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive (quoting the kernel log) During boot time I get error messages like 'failed insmod sr_mod' but I can't include them as I can't find where they are stored Thanks for any help, Joris --- Frans Pop <aragorn@tiscali.nl> wrote: > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > Two options: > 1. include the modules to be loaded in /etc/modules; > 2. define dependancies between modules in a file in > /etc/modutils. > > Example for the 2nd option: I have the following > lines to support my > CD-writer: > options ide-cd ignore=hdc > alias scd0 sr_mod > pre-install sg modprobe ide-scsi > pre-install sr_mod modprobe ide-scsi > pre-install ide-scsi modprobe ide-cd > The last three lines make sure the modules sg, > sr-mod and ide-scsi are loaded > automagically when ide-cd is loaded. > > Remember to run update-modules as root after you > change anything in > /etc/modutils; this will update /etc/modules.conf > which does the actual work. > > FJP > > On Thursday 10 April 2003 21:42, Joris Huizer wrote: > > Hello everybody, > > > > Allright I'm now working on the scsi emulation > setup. > > My /zip is now successfully left alone. > > > > I have this problem: the scsi emulation modules > are > > not loaded ! > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- > Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) > > iD8DBQE+ld7rgm/Kwh6ICoQRAtmSAKCSEmgPbcpX4pyJK4NxTi5Exb2pogCgkeWZ > +Wm9HBMNGDT48rs2vD4Eqbo= > =z1oc > -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- > > > -- > To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to > debian-user-request@lists.debian.org > with a subject of "unsubscribe".
