Automagically.
$ su -m
# apt-get update
# apt-get dist-upgrade
Go get some coffee while apt works it's magic, answer a couple
questions, and you're done. For the record, up2date is RedHat's cheap
knockoff of apt. (It should tell people something that I know a local
who works for Red Hat and submits regularly to gcc and I converted him
to Debian on his home box. Not going to name names for his sake,
though.)
