First, Welcome to Debian!

If this is your first installation, you may not be aware of the option
to install with a 2.4 kernel. To do this, type "bf24" at the first
prompt. And I'd recommend using Reiserfs or ext3 for the root partition.

Since the motherboard is Intel, it's a good bet nigh unto certainty that
the onboard network adapter is an Intel Ethernet Express series. Try the
module "eepro100". If that doesn't work try "eepro".
