But two thoughts that might be of some help: 1) Try commenting out the 'options' lines. Dunno why, but my SB Live! kept giving me similar errors, but loading it withoug the 'options' line (then running the snddevices script again) made it go. 2) I hear that KDE has some sort of sound layer of its own (arts). This is not something I know anything about, as I don't use K, but I'd try to get simple console sound working before trying it in K. Just in Kase. ;-) HTH -Chris
