In such a database-driven environment, the web server itself will almost
certainly not be the bottleneck. Your database and the programming language
you choose will probably have much more impact than the web server.

Ease of management? On a POS system? Don't you just set it up and leave it
running?

Not exactly. This system is a complete integrated retail & or sales business environment. It includes all of the necessary office, doccument, processing software, inventory control, double entry bookeeping, fully integrated retail online presence, P.O.S. for brick & morter locations, all managed via a monolithic database structure via secure web based interfaces. The entire system is comprised of a mixture of GPL software and proprietary database structures. It is an ongoing developmental effort not currently "fully" deployed but with many functioning integrated elements. P.O.S. is the term most people will recognize. Thanks for the interest.
