Can you ping any of those "http.us.debian.org" IPs or IP numbers?  It 
looks like you are connecting to the "10.38.1.45" machine OK, but not to 
any of the Debian machines.  I take it that 10.38.1.45 is on an 
"internal" network...  Routing problem maybe??
