As a general thing, you can usually get more info about these errors by
adding a 'set -x' line to /var/lib/dpkg/info/PACKAGENAME.SCRIPTNAME,
which would be 'mysql-server.postinst' in thie case.  Add it after the
hash-bang line, but before real code starts executing.
