Curiosity is the reason many people try Linux. Some stay with it,
other don't.

I've found that your education doesn't always precede your career.
I'm a Network Systems Engineer with a BS in IS, but some of the best
NSE's I've hired and worked with had Liberal Arts and Marketing
degrees. They discovered their technical capabilities initially be
accident or by necessity and discovered they loved it and made a
career out of it.

You'll find that the biggest commonality among Linux users is their
love for Linux. Reasons and backgrounds vary widely. This should
tell you one thing for sure...Linux can be for everyone!
