Yeah, exim is trying to send any outgoing mail you may have. You've
probably got /etc/cron.d/exim containing
# /etc/cron.d/exim: crontab fragment for exim
# Run queue every 15 minutes
08,23,38,53 * * * * mail if [ -x /usr/sbin/exim ]; then /usr/sbin/exim -q >/dev/null 2>&1; fi
which is a standard part of the exim setup. I don't think there's any
particular reason why you shouldn't delete this file and run exim by
hand to send your mail when you want to.
