Hi again, at the end it was not the symlinks but something a bit (more) silly. The entry initrd=/initrd.img was there but......under the older kernel. So I just added the line to the new one. Anyway, thanks everybody for their answers. cheers rodrigo P.D. I do not know (yet) whether or not the winmodem is going to work, but I already got the audio working (it did not work with the kernel 2.2.20).
