Re: XFree86

Well, not just to satisfy him. Other people have preferences too.

You complaining about messages? Use Proper 1-line Attributions and
conserve bandwidth

How would you get the context (think long posts)? Do you have any idea
how annoying it can be with one long line?

If you don't be specific, then you're going to have a lot of "extra" explaining to do. If you want your answer fast, then you better make sure people understand the question clearly, if not it results in 1000 more posts to this already high traffic list, as king wtf are you talking about?

Yeah, so don't toppost, it kills context and people ask "Which item is
that person responding to? Question 1 or 2?", and they just might make
an addition post requesting clarification.

> Why would I bottom post? I find it quite nice to be able to read what is said at the top. Sorry - scrolling through 10000 messages a day is not my idea of fun. Was it not easier to read my reply like this? Wrap my lines... I think this is a personal problem, configure your mail client to wrap lines. If you have such a big problem with it, and you cannot choose to wrap lines, find a new email client, or it's tuff titty for you, isn't it?

Really, my email client does _visually_ show the lines wrapped around,
but it can be a bit annoying with the quoting (I'm not fixing it here).
It is easy to configure lookout to wrap lines (I should know, I used to
use it). The point is not bottom posting, but getting the context. Each
answer should be under its question. Each response should be under its
stimulus.

Look, an attribution that (if a signature) would get people complaining
about wasting bandwidth. Is there a McQuary-type limit on attributions?
