Noob -- static IP when booting from floppy?

Hello,

if I change the ip address using ifconfig, I seem to lose it & go back to
DCHP when I reboot. What do I edit to make my ip static? Can I also check on
services (named, httpd, postfix) to make sure that they start automatically
too?
