I have Gnome2 running now, thanks to using the experimental binaries strictly, rather than some unstable ones. Other than I can't get Sawfish to work with it, I like it (hello, MetaCity, even if it isn't as powerful at window placement management). Other than the next generation Control Centre only gives me access to the screensaver, I still like it (although I have to use the Gnome 1.4 control centre for now.) But I don't see any constructive changes in Nautilus. Version 2.0.7, on Debian, has noticeably less features at present than is the case in version 1.0.6 - particularly, the loss of the Find feature. That was disappointing - I watch the cpu cycles and disk activity that medusa-indexd uses every day, and realise that they are being squandered on a service I cannot use. Bummer. I really like the find feature - the ability to track down where terms were used in order to be able to find documentation - nice! A graphical super-locate ;) I'd also like to be able to change the font for it, but that is gone from the Nautilus2 preferences for now, and I don't have enough in the Gnome2 Control Centre yet to set them there. Does anyone know if the Find functionality is gone for good? Should I consider Medusa to be obsolete and remove it? -- Mark L.
