Re: Terminal like server for linux

You know, as far as I know, only 1 person at a time can access a VNC server, right?

I am almost certain, that the company I'm talking about has a server, much like Windows Terminal Services, that allows multiple remote users to log in through a web browser to a single server and work as if they were at work. But I know for a fact that there office is 100% Debian.

Under unix you can setup vnc on multiple screens, and have an xdm (gdm whatever) login on each ie :0, :1, :2 etc... If you logout it will go back to the xdm login nextime you access it. If you leave the X session open it will still be there next time you access it. We have access to a solaris box here on windows clients like this, everyone just uses a different vnc screen number so we aren't fighting each other.

Slow. I'm not sure how the java viewer is speed-wise though.

jdm

The vnc server is definately faster under unix than windows.
I haven't tried the java viewer either.
