Yeah, vi is pretty cool. Wait till you see emacs and start writing
elisp to customize it ;-)

Frankly, none of them are better than vi (or your fav. editor) and
good old editing by hand. If you are learning linux, do things by
hand. It's faster, it alway works, and it'll rightly make you seem
like a guru to a rather large number of other folks who don't run
Debian or Slackware and are stuck at similar things......
