This has been covered before.  It may be easier for someone that doesn't
need a kernel building walkthrough, but I assure you that it's not easier
for people that do need one.  It a fairly safe bet that someone new to
building a kernel will have no idea what needs to included within their
kernel and what is safe to as a module (when not using an initrd image).
