After further investigation I have found that my quotas aren't working
properly at all because they haven't been "turned on", it's not a SAMBA 
specific problem, so it appears I was barking up the wrong tree.  I do
however still have a problem; 'quotacheck' works, 'repquota' and 'quota'
work and give the correct output, however, 'quotaon' does not work.  I
get this:

$ quotaon -a
quotaon: using /home/aquota.user on /dev/hda7 [/home]: Function not implemented
quotaon: using /var/aquota.user on /dev/hda8 [/var]: Function not implemented

Anybody know what's going on here?  I've done a quick Google and come up
with not much.
