Why don't you go ahead and give it a try and see? You can report what
you find the advantages and disadvantages are.

I have only two months of experience using Debian GNU/Linux and this week I am using Sylpheed 0.7.4claws with fetchmail. 
I kinda like it!

So if this is the blind leading the blind, so be it!

What is the worst thing that can happen?
