Why does the modem HAVE to go on ttyS2? I had a machine with a 2.2.20 kernel that I upgraded the other day to 2.4.19 Under 2.2.20, the internel PCI Sportster modem was on ttyS2, after the upgrade, it ended up on ttyS4. A bit of mknod magic, and I was set to go again. ComX: ports are windows/dos things, not *nix.
