/etc/quik.conf question

I realize this is not really the mac forum, but I am sure someone here
knows the answer. ;-)

Does quik work with the blue macs or do I need to use yaboot ?

Here are the specs:
------------------------

lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Motorola MPC106 [Grackle] (rev 40)
00:0d.0 PCI bridge: Digital Equipment Corporation DECchip 21154 (rev 02)
00:10.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage 128 RE
01:00.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments PCILynx/PCILynx2 IEEE
1394 Link Layer Controller (rev 02)
01:01.0 IDE interface: CMD Technology Inc PCI0646 (rev 05)

01:05.0 Class ff00: Apple Computer Inc. Paddington Mac I/O
01:06.0 USB Controller: OPTi Inc. 82C861 (rev 10)

Here is what I did:
--------------------
I created the following /etc/quik.conf

init-message="Welcome to Debian Linux\n"
timeout=300
default=linux
image=/boot/vmlinux-2.2.19
    label=linux
    root=/dev/hda4
    partition=4
    read-only

Error I get:
--------------------
When I run quik, I get this:

Fatal erro: Config file /etc/quik.conf has to be on the /dev/hda device
(any partion).

It is ...

mount reveals ...

/dev/hda3 on / type ext2 (rw)
/dev/hda4 on /boot type ext2 (rw)
/dev/hda6 on /usr  type ext2 (rw)
/dev/hda7 on /home type ext2 (rw)
/dev/hda8 on /var type ext2 (rw)

when I do a mac-fdisk /dev/hda it reveals two other partions

/dev/hda1 Apple_partion_map Apple               Partition Map
/dev/hda2 Apple_Bootstrap untitled              NewWorld bootblock
