Re: WP2000 and FontTastic [IGNORE PREVIOUS]

Is it possible to retract a message? It turns out that "happy" solution

to the point that I had to reinstall. Now, none of that may be
reproducible, so YMMV. And there may actually be no connection between
one thing and another.

I guess I'm back to googling to figure out how to get WP2000 working with
XFree86 4.0.

Hi, all:

A saga with a happy ending ....

I won't bore you with all the details, but, I think after upgrading to
Xfree86 4.0, WP2000 and apps failed to work, finding no fonttastic server
running, trying to start one, even succeeding after I'd manually killed
it, but never being able to connect.

Anyway, after much googling, I found a page which suggested adding

FontPath "tcp/localhost:7102"

to my XF86Config file. (Mine _isn't_ XF86Config-4, by the way, and it
installed that way.) That appears to have fixed the problem, so if others
are having it, maybe it will fix it for you too!

That looks right.... except for it not being XF86Config-4

Did you try removing WPO before installing X4.0, and then re-installing it (also, it's probably best to use apt-get to install WPO...)

At any rate, I do know that it is possible (at least with 4.1) as I have got it running happily here. However, I don't think I ever attempted to upgrade to 4.x from 3.3.x, I just did fresh installs of woody (or a very minimal potato install (no X even) and upgraded that to woody).

How do you know it is an X problem, btw? It could be a glibc version problem...?
