Debian packages all it's libraries into two packages - libfoo (runtime libraries) and libfoo-dev (headers and other compile time libraries). If it can't find glib and gtk, you probably need to apt-get install the -dev versions of these libraries. HTH, Steve -- It would be nice to be sure of anything the way some people are of everything.
