Sorry Martin, I missed the beginning of the thread, but a couple of
things occur to me:

Google.
Is the beamer a wired connection that would allow you to run 
X --configure (or videogen, kudzu, etc., but I think not read-edid - 
only VESA?) 
Manufacturer support lines, if possible.

Not sure what else at the moment.
