ispell stopped working today?

Hello

When I logged in today and tryed to use the spell checker in kmail 
(and all other programs that call ispell)I got this error message:

ISPELL could not be started
Please make sure you have ispell properly configured and in your path.

Has this recently happened to anyone else?  All other users on the 
system can use the spell checker.  and /usr/bin/ (where ispell is ) 
is in the path.
