Configuring X for woody on VMware



I've got woody installed as a guest OS in VMware workstation 3.1, and am
trying to configure XFree86 4.1.0-16, which I installed using apt-get. I
have also installed WindowMaker and would like to use that with X.

During the initial config process, I selected a 'vmware' video driver from
the list in the config utility selection screen. Since then I have edited
XF86Config to use a generic vga driver, but the log still references the
vmware driver when I try to start X.

I've tried to run SuperProbe as advised in some docs but I can't find it in
my current installation.

Also had some trouble getting my USB mouse recognized, but X stopped
complaining about that after I changed the relevant entry in XF86Config to
/dev/tty0.

The last part of the XFree86 startup log is at the bottom of this message,
and the entire log is attached along with the current XF86Config file.
