font trouble in GNOME
Hi all.
On a fresh installation (Woody, x86), we've suddenly stopped being able
to run certain parts of GNOME and Sawfish. The error we get:
** (gnome-terminal:6777): WARNING **: Couldn't load font "Sans 10"
falling back to "Sans 10"
** (gnome-terminal:6777): WARNING **: Couldn't load font "Sans 10"
falling back to "Sans 10"
** (gnome-terminal:6777): WARNING **: All font failbacks failed!!!!
The "sawfish-ui" program has the same problem and also refuses to run.
Sawfish itself runs fine, and other X applications (xterm for example)
run fine with all the right window decorations and so forth.
gnome-terminal was working yesterday; a couple of package additions and
apt-get upgrades ago. As far as I can recall we haven't removed
anything from the system. I've compared it to another Woody machine
that does work and can't find any fonts obviously missing, but to be
honest I don't know which "Sans 10" it would be looking for (font
handling in *nix is kind of a mystery to me...) I've also removed and
re-added gnome-terminal hoping that some dependency might be flushed
out, but to no avail.
Does anybody have any idea what we might have done to screw this up?
Or, how to find out which package contains the "Sans 10" font?
TIA,
-mrj
