the packages are raidtools for the "old-style" raid 0.36 (kernels 2.2)
available in potato, raidtools2 is for the  "new-style" raid 0.90
in kernel 2.4 (available in 2.2 if you patch it). raidtools2 is
not in potato last i checked, and last i tried i don't think i could
get it to compile, been about a year since i tried though.

then you gotta read the docs in /usr/share/doc/PACKAGENAME for how
to set it up. its not automatic. i have a half dozen systems running
software raid under 2.2 (half and half 0.36 and 0.90). no problems
yet ..
