Gnome2 has it's own control center (/usr/bin/gnome-control-center ,
from gnome-control-center2). It didn't work for me though (but at
least a window appeared!)

I simply re-added sawfish to gnomecc's (1.4) list of window managers.
As for sawfish-ui crashing, I don't know. sawfish is the only new app
that actually runs on my machine.
