Re: should I try ext3 filesystems even though barely documented?
I managed to convert my laptop (a P133 junker) to use ext3 and it's
stable as before. I have no problems.
It helped significantly because occasionally StarOffice and/or suspend
to disk may not work nicely and I have to forcefully powerdown. The fix
time costs like 1 second and I don't notice any significant decrease in
speed. On this junker laptop I doubt I'll notice any difference in speed
anyways.
I'd think ext3 may not be so essential on a modern PC as long as you
don't have too much HD space, but otherwise, I'll definately use it. It
has been treating me great, no more of those fsck times.
