Re: can't upgrade apache -- apt-get problem?

Hi Vineet,

thanks, but unfortunately that didn't help either.

For the moment my /etc/apt/sources.list is simply (this list is
recommended on http://www.debian.org/security):
-----------------------------------------------
jakob@hatchoum:/etc/apt$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://security.debian.org/ potato/updates main contrib non-free

then I do the update:
---------------------
jakob@hatchoum:/etc/apt$ sudo apt-get update
Get:1 http://security.debian.org stable/updates/main Packages [77.6kB]
Get:2 http://security.debian.org stable/updates/main Release [110B]
Get:3 http://security.debian.org stable/updates/contrib Packages [1967B]
Get:4 http://security.debian.org stable/updates/contrib Release [113B]
Get:5 http://security.debian.org stable/updates/non-free Packages
[5036B]
Get:6 http://security.debian.org stable/updates/non-free Release [114B]
Get:7 http://security.debian.org potato/updates/main Packages [77.6kB]
Get:8 http://security.debian.org potato/updates/main Release [110B]
Get:9 http://security.debian.org potato/updates/contrib Packages [1967B]
Get:10 http://security.debian.org potato/updates/contrib Release [113B]
Get:11 http://security.debian.org potato/updates/non-free Packages
[5036B]
Get:12 http://security.debian.org potato/updates/non-free Release [114B]

doing an upgrade results in zero action:
----------------------------------------
jakob@hatchoum:/etc/apt$ sudo apt-get upgrade
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

likewise for an install apache:
-------------------------------
jakob@hatchoum:/etc/apt$ sudo apt-get install apache
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Sorry, apache is already the newest version.
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

I have tried to solve this for the last couple of days w/o success. Any
help is very much appreciated.

cheers,
Jakob.
