you can make changes to /etc/X11/Xsession or 'startx'

many startx scripts will also take the window manager as a parameter, in
which case you can just 'replace' your startx with 'startx blackbox'
by renaming startx and replacing it with a symlink to a one-liner or a
bash alias.

also, consider using xdm or other graphical logon that lets you pick a
window manager at login and defaults to the last one used.
