Yes, I've set up one 2500 and a few 2550 at work. Unless something
changed in unstable, you will need a patched kernel to detect the
Perc3/Di chip they use. You can find the diskimage I use at
http://emil.its.uu.se:8080/DELL/ (the on ending in .dd), and there's
also a slight newer (2.4.9) patched kernel source (make
clean/distclean).
I use that disk together with the potato (r0 I think) CD's) to
install, then update the kernel and other stuff I need (we need support
for >2G files, thus forced out of potato/stable).
You can probably find newer patches if you google a bit, since my disk
work for me I leave it there. If you're lazy start with:
