From latex to context

I've been using latex for some months. Now I'd like to start using
Context which is included in the tetex packages but as far as I can
grasp is not ready-for-use.

I've been reading the pdf doc files for the first installation of context
but - I'm perhaps a bit/somewhat slow - I haven't understood how to go
on for it.

PLEASE HELP

Besides, while the docs say that there's also an Italian version
con-it of Context available, no clue of it seems to be available in
woody.

SUGGESTIONS?
