I think it depends on the SMC, but I have a 1211TX and I use the 8139
driver. One thing I had to set was the "Use PIO instead of MMIO" option
in the Kernel.

I built it into the Kernel and compiled with the driver as opposed to
using a module. If you're using Modules, perhaps someone else can
provide info on this. =]
