Performance over NFS

Hi,

We are planning to install Debian linux in a Dell poweredge 2450.
On this box we will be NFS mounting a T3 storage device. The NFS server
for this storage device is a E3500 box with sun solaris as OS.
Presently we are having performance issues with the NFS and hence the decision
to test Debian Linux.

Can anybody share his experience with regards to Debian linux
performance over NFS.
