Re: Internet Crashes

That sounds a ton like the problem I am having. I had originally configured mine
to act as a server, thinking "I might
like to put some things on the web, and it would be convenient to have them
straight in my linux box." I too have a firewall,
and I too suddenly experienced the internet going down.

More than that -- if I try PING to my next link, it doesn't work. But if I
reboot into Windows, everything is fine.

Well, sort of. I think that one of these times I took my ISP's network down, and
it stayed down until someone
rebooted *their* system. Aside from that, Windows internet still operates (same
computer) but Linux' network
capability has progressed to being completely down, all the time.

The guys at the ISP think that the problem is a configuration problem of some
sort. But they did allow for the possibility
that it could be some kind of a virus, perhaps.

Let me ask you -- assuming that it is something having to do with the internet
server or the firewall -- what programs
would I have to uninstall to get rid of both the internet servers and the
firewall, and all their support systems?

I just ran ifconfig, and got back no collisions.
